A coopera\u00e7\u00e3o entre a montadora de chassis Mercedes-Benz do Brasil e a Allison Transmission, fabricante de transmiss\u00f5es autom\u00e1ticas, permitir\u00e1 que um trem de for\u00e7a totalmente atualizado esteja presente no modelo OH 1420 da frota da Transport Board. Os ve\u00edculos est\u00e3o recebendo novos motores eletr\u00f4nicos Euro III em substitui\u00e7\u00e3o aos antigos, com bomba de inje\u00e7\u00e3o controlada mecanicamente, e novas transmiss\u00f5es Allison totalmente autom\u00e1ticas modelo T270R\u2122 que substituir\u00e3o as antigas, tamb\u00e9m Allison, MT643R\u2122.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evaldo Oliveira, diretor de Opera\u00e7\u00f5es da Allison Transmission para a Am\u00e9rica do Sul, comentou que essa revitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o dos \u00f4nibus \u00e9 um procedimento relativamente usual nas ilhas do Caribe. &#8220;A dificuldade operacional e financeira para a substitui\u00e7\u00e3o dos ve\u00edculos leva os servi\u00e7os de transportes urbanos, como os da Transport Board, a atualizar o trem de for\u00e7a dos ve\u00edculos para prolongar a vida \u00fatil dos modelos existentes no Pa\u00eds. O custo \u00e9 significativamente mais baixo que a compra de novos \u00f4nibus e o transporte de passageiros volta a ser eficiente&#8221;, observou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Allison tamb\u00e9m ressaltou que o processo de renova\u00e7\u00e3o poder\u00e1 dar continuidade \u00e0 novos neg\u00f3cios para ambas as empresas, j\u00e1 que aproximadamente 60% da frota dos 250 \u00f4nibus da ilha est\u00e1 inoperante por problemas de \u2018idade\u2019 e manuten\u00e7\u00e3o.
